In February 2026, the Newport City council approved our neighborhood as a “Cultural District.” We are very happy to play a part in enhancing the art, music, history, local cuisine and boutique shopping in our neighborhood. In partnership
with local arts organizations, the City of Newport funded a consultation from Lawrence Qamar in spring of 2025. He had numerous suggestions for us, providing a full report in the fall of 2025. The Nye Neighborhood Association reviewed
those recommendations during our regular meetings from October 2025-February 2026. In March, we prioritized projects in our neighborhood. All projects involve partnership with the City of Newport, and some we will be moving
forward on right away. Charts illustrating our priorities appear below. Clicking on a chart will enlarge it.
